It states on the info that laptops are not suited as host PC - can you tell me why this is?

The reason it specifies its not great for laptops is because USB uses a large amount of system resources. This would slow a laptop down greatly and in extreme cases cause data loss/corruption during file transfer.
The machines comes with a USB dongle and software. So as long as you have the USB dongle in the machine, the unit can be used on more than one PC - however without this - the unit will not operate.
I'm afraid our money back guarantee is only for retail customers, however the machine is very easy to use so I hope you will not find yourself in a position where you feel it needs to be returned!

You quote PC based resources.
Does this mean it needs a PC to drive it?
We want a stand alone device.

You are correct, the Nexcopy USB Flashdrive duplicator does require a PC connection to operate. We do have a similar device which is stand alone, all be it from a different manufacturer.
